This privacy policy applies to the website streamhunt.app.

📧 What data we collect

We collect the following data:

• Email address — only when you voluntarily subscribe to our daily movie digest newsletter.
• Sync data — if you choose to use the optional cross-device sync feature, your favourites, watched titles, and custom lists are stored on our server under a randomly generated sync code (e.g. SH-XXXX-XXXX). This code is not linked to your identity, email address, IP address, or any personal information. It is a random token generated on your device. We have no way to identify who a sync code belongs to.

We do not collect your name, location, IP address, browsing behaviour, or any other personal information.

🎯 Why we collect it

Your email address is collected solely to send you our daily movie digest — a once-per-day email containing movie recommendations. We use it for no other purpose.

⚖️ Legal basis (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), our legal basis for processing your email address is consent — you explicitly opted in by subscribing and confirmed via a double opt-in confirmation email.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing.

🔒 How we store your data

• Your email address is stored in a secure MySQL database hosted on Websupport.sk servers located in the European Union.
• Access to the database is restricted and password-protected.
• We do not share, sell, or transfer your email address to any third party.

📨 Email sending

Emails are sent via our own SMTP server at smtp.m1.websupport.sk. Your email address is passed to this server solely for the purpose of delivery. Websupport.sk is an EU-based hosting provider.

We do not use any third-party email marketing platforms (no Mailchimp, SendGrid, etc.).

🍪 Cookies

Streamhunt uses only essential cookies — specifically a PHP session cookie required for rate limiting API requests. This cookie contains no personal data and is not used for tracking or marketing.

We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies.

✅ Your rights

Under GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access — you can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Right to erasure — you can request deletion of your data at any time.
• Right to withdraw consent — unsubscribe at any time via the link in any newsletter email.
• Right to object — you can object to processing of your data.
• Right to complain — you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

🗑️ Data retention

We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your email address is permanently deleted from our database immediately.

Sync data stored under a sync code is retained until you choose to erase it using the "Erase all data" option in the app, at which point it is permanently deleted from our server. Sync data is not linked to any personal identity and cannot be used to identify you.

🔄 Changes to this policy

If we make any material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify subscribers via email before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last updated.
